Welcome to Holy Trinity Barnes – or ‘H T Barnes’ as you will hear us call it!
Our church is made up of people of all ages, from a wide variety of backgrounds. As a church we come together on Sunday morning to celebrate God’s love, learn together from the bible, pray and encourage each other to serve Him with our whole lives. Many are also members of one of our Connect Groups, which meet weekly. Whether you are already a committed follower of Jesus, interested in exploring ‘church’, or skeptical, we look forward to welcoming you.
What to expect
Even if you’re familiar with church, going somewhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-wracking experience. Yet we hope you will receive a warm welcome from those greeting you at the door and feel settled quickly. Here’s a quick summary of what to expect at HTBarnes.
From 6th October 2019 we will have TWO Sunday Services with the launch of our new 6pm meeting. This new evening service will have a more reflective feel than the family friendly morning service, with a series of guest speakers arranged.
Our morning service begins at 10am with drinks and croissants. Our children’s ministry is available during this service, but all the young people join us in church for the first set of songs, before going to their groups.
After our service, drinks and cake are served. This is an opportunity for those attending to mingle.
We normally have a time of praise and worship led by our worship team, a bible reading and a talk (sermon). Every other week we celebrate communion together. During communion, at HTBarnes we go to the front area of the church where we receive a piece of bread broken from a roll and wine from a silver challice. If you do not feel able to receive communion for whatever reason, you are welcome to come to the front and receive a blessing instead. Alcohol free wine is also available if you indicate you would like this option. If you would just like to remain seated and reflect on the sermon, you are welcome to do this and you should not feel uncomfortable.
Our chairs are normally traditionally arranged in rows, but we have sofas at the back and you are welcome to sit wherever you like! Likewise, you can stand to sing or remain sitting if you’d prefer.
If you have noisy children – please don’t feel embarrassed! We are a church that loves to welcome families and children. They won’t be making as much noise as you think – and we have a sound system anyway!
DISABLED ACCESS – We have a concrete ramp from the street, but no fully disabled toilet facility within the church. We are in the early stages of a building project when making our facilities fully accessible is one of the priorities.
If you are visiting and would like to know more about becoming part of our church community, please fill out one of the Newcomers Cards on the welcome desk and give it to one of the Welcome Team. There will also be information on the welcome desk about Connect Groups, our Alpha Courses and various social events we hold. All are great ways for getting to know people better.
