For our GIFT DAY 2017, we are supporting two charities.
UPDATE 4/11/17 – We have passed £3,500 to Tear Fund and £8,450 to Riverbank Trust. Thank you to all who supported our Gift Day!
TEAR FUND – Connected Church We have previously donated funds via this scheme to Lamb Hospital in Bangladesh, who work through local churches to both provide support to communities who face natural disaster and floods, but also to prepare them, by instance, through teaching children to swim. You can read about their work HERE
RIVERBANK TRUST We have a long standing relationship with this local christian charity who work with vulnerable parents and children in Richmond Borough. They are hoping to launch an exciting new initiative under the Government Community Sponsorship scheme, where they undertake to find housing and support a refugee family from Syria. Ellie Hughes, the trust’s founder spoke at HTBarnes about the work of Riverbank and the scheme on 24th September and you can listen to her talk HERE. During her talk she used a video clip that you can watch HERE. You can read the requirements to set up a community sponsorship scheme on the government website HERE. You can read about the general work that Riverbank do HERE.
The PCC has decided that any donations up to £7,000 will be split evenly between the two charities, with any excess funds going solely to Riverbank, to enable them to progress the community sponsorship scheme whilst continuing with their existing commitments.
